What is a microschool? A microschool is a small, independent educational program typically designed to serve smaller groups of students across multiple grade levels. Microschools focus on personalized learning, small class sizes, and individualized instruction. They have the freedom to chose curriculum, philosophy and teaching styles.
Why should I enroll my child? At Think Garden we will find your child's interests and give space for your child to grow and build upon those interests. Your child will be encouraged to talk and express their thoughts and learn to work collaborativly with peers and adults to reach goals.
Is Think Garden a private school? Yes! Under Indiana law, we are classified as a non-accredited private school, we follow the state law, which stipulates that we teach an equivalent curriculum and follow a 180-day school year in our full day programs. ​We are a member of the National Microschooling Center which provides guidance, community, legal assistance and trainings specific to microschools across the nation and Indiana. We are also a part of the VELA Founder Network which is leading the way in the nations alternative education frontier.
Do you follow a traditional school calendar? We follow a similar calendar to the local school districts in Indianapolis. We close for tradional school breaks and some major holidays.
What if my child has an IEP? Students who have recieved IEPs from a school district will find our hands on approach and limited seat time can be very beneficial to their overall growth and learning experience! We are an approved ESA provider. This scholarship program provides funds that pay for educational needs of the student with an IEP as well as their siblings! These funds can be used for any of our programs!
How do you assess students without state testing? Assessments are done through observations and natural interactions with each student. Portfolios of student work and checklists record ongoing student progress throughout the school year.
Do you have a parent handbook? Yes! Upon enrollment we will go over the handbook with our families . It will also be  sent digitally for review and for parent records.
